Te Kura student tops World Maths Day

Congratulations to Year 12 student, Meg Sisson of Winton who took part in the Mathletics World Maths Day competition in March and placed first in New Zealand for her age group (14-18 years).

Meg competed online against over a million students from around the world who were all trying to break the world record for the number of correct answers given in 48 hours.

'Each game was between three or four people, and the challenge was to answer as many maths questions as possible in one minute,' explains Meg.

'The fun was in the live competition because to keep up with the other students I had to be accurate and fast. I also enjoyed seeing which countries the other students came from,' says Meg.

'At school I like algebra, geometry and trigonometry, but World Maths Day was just for a bit of fun.'

Meg received a silver medal for her efforts.
