Information for schools
Digital and online learning
Te Kura is increasingly moving towards digital delivery of courses to secondary dual students, as signalled in our Service Level Agreement (SLA) for dual enrolled students for 2011.
Digital delivery is a precursor to full online delivery of Te Kura courses, and includes both fully online courses delivered through our website or online teaching and learning environment as well as courses available in PDF form on CD.
In 2012, the following NCEA Level 1courses will only be available online to dual-enrolled students:
- Te Reo Maori – MA1000
- Media Studies – MD1000
- Digital Technology – DT1000
- Visual Arts – AR1000.
The following NCEA Level 3 courses will only be available via CD-ROM for dual-enrolled students:
- Accounting – AC300
- French – FR320
- Graphics – GD 350
- Geography – GY300
- History – HJS300 and HS320
- Legal Studies – LG300.
There will be no printed option available for dual-enrolled students doing these courses. Schools will need to ensure that students enrolled in these courses have appropriate access to computers and are able to print off material if required.
We appreciate that this is potentially a significant change to the way schools access Te Kura courses, particularly for schools that may not have sufficient computers or high speed broadband connections. Our aim is to ensure all our students benefit from our newly developed online courses and to streamline our delivery to dual students by making more courses available digitally.
To help schools to ensure their students are able to access these courses, we have put together a resource for schools with information on sources of assistance.
Please contact your regional Relationship Coordinator for more information about digital and online learning.
