Madeleine lands Jockey Junior role and lunch with Dan Carter

Te Kura student Madeleine Somerville has been chosen as one of 15 Jockey Junior models who will meet All Black Dan Carter in June.

Chosen from 2500 entries, 10 year old Madeleine will share a sit-down lunch with the rugby star, an autograph session and official photo shoot for Jockey wearing singlets and running shorts.

‘I am one of the only girls I know who lives on a farm, plays rugby and goes hunting. I think that makes me unique and a great Jockey Junior,’ she says.

Entering the competition in the hope of meeting her hero, Madeleine enjoys playing rugby and watching it with her dad. She’s an ‘outdoorsy’ girl, she loves being in nature, hunting and playing sport.

Carter says ‘with thousands of great Kiwi kids entering, it was really, really tough to only choose 15 for the final Jockey Junior team, so Madeleine is definitely in a league of her own to get past such tough competition.

‘I can’t wait to meet her and all the other kids on the day, and have some fun running around on the field.’
