What is Te Reo Māori?

Māori is one of the official languages of New Zealand and is an integral part of the country’s culture. There are numerous reasons to learn Māori including personal enjoyment or career requirements. Whatever the reason may be, learning Māori provides great satisfaction, a greater connection with New Zealand and an enhanced understanding of our culture and society.

What this course involves

This is a course for beginners. Students are introduced to basic listening, speaking, reading and writing skills using everyday te reo Māori. They learn how to greet people and communicate basic information about themselves and others including weather, colours, birthdays, family and their home. They also learn how to communicate about time, body parts, food, shopping and roles and responsibilities on the marae.
