Applications Closing for 2017 Dual Registrations
29 September 2017
Applications for primary dual registrations and most secondary dual registrations close on Friday 13 October at 5pm. Please note this includes additional subject for students already registered with Te Kura. We will continue to accept secondary dual applications from activity centres, alternative education providers, health schools and teen parent units until Friday 3 November 2017. Applications for 2018 registrations will open on Monday 27 November 2017 and more information about this will be available closer to the date.
Non Returner process

The next monthly Non Returner process will be run on 30 September 2017 a day after the end of the term. In order to make sure students are not caught out by the Non returner process at the end of September it is important to read this message. Please ensure a piece of assessable work is submitted in time to be assessed by your teacher well before the end of term three, on the 29 September. This will ensure that you will not be included in the Non Returner process at the end of September. If your work does not arrive in time to be marked by the end of term, or it arrives during the holidays, it will remain in OTLE until the end of the holidays.

Te Kura teacher wins Australasian Teaching Award

Jan Bolton has won the Teaching Excellence Award from the Australasian Association of Distance Education Schools (AADES) for her outstanding work in online education with Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura). The award citation describes Jan’s “Outstanding innovation and approach to teaching and learning” and says “Jan has pioneered the way for others to work in authentic learning contexts. ” Te Kura Chief Executive Mike Hollings says, “As New Zealand’s only state distance education provider Te Kura has much to learn from and share with the larger Australasian distance learning community and it’s great to have a Te Kura teacher recognised for her incredible leadership and talent. ” One of the projects Jan was the visionary behind, as Te Kura’s Kaihautū Mātauranga Curriculum Leader of the Performing and Visual Arts was Collaborate to Create. This encouraged students to collaborate online in Te Kura’s Online Teaching and Learning Environment.
2017 NCEA registration and payment

If you are studying NCEA level courses with Te Kura, you will need to submit an online NCEA registration and pay your 2017 NCEA fee. If you haven’t already done so, please do this on the NCEA registration webpage[http://www. tekura. school. nz/student-toolkit/ncea-registration/] Please complete all steps of your NCEA registration before the deadline date specified on the 2017 NCEA registration and payment instruction letter posted to you.
