Who can enrol

You may be able to enrol with us if you meet certain eligibility criteria set by the Ministry of Education.

Call us on 0800 65 99 88, or read the Ministry of Education's enrolment policy to check if you are eligible.

In certain circumstances, students who don’t meet the eligibility criteria for a funded place at Te Kura may be able to enrol with us as a fee-paying student. Check our course fees page for details.

We also accept enrolments for eligible dual students. Dual students must be enrolled by their home school. Check our dual tuition page for more information about enrolling dual students.

Early childhood
We offer early childhood education to students aged between three and six years of age who are unable to attend a local early childhood education centre due to their location, high health or special education needs. To be eligible, your child must be living in New Zealand, a New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or a domestic student, and meet one of the eligibility criteria set out by the Ministry of Education.

Full-time students
Te Kura accepts enrolments from full-time students aged between 5 and 19 years of age whose location, educational or personal circumstances mean they are unable to attend a local school.  Students must be living in New Zealand and be a New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or domestic student, and meet one of the eligibility criteria for full-time study set out by the Ministry of Education.

Fee-paying
Under certain circumstances, students who are not eligible under the Ministry of Education’s criteria for a funded place at Te Kura may be able to enrol as a fee-paying student. The exact fees depend on the student’s citizenship status, place of residence and level of study. Enrolments are for a calendar year only.

Young people aged 16 to 19 years of age or over and not attending a school full-time may enrol with Te Kura as a young adult student, providing they are living in New Zealand and are a New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or domestic student and not attending a secondary school full-time.
