What is Te Ara Hou Integrated Programme?

Integrated studies for Years 7–10 ākonga.

What this course involves

Full-time ākonga in Years 7–10 are taught in the Te Ara Hou programme with curriculum delivery through either a fully integrated programme of learning; individual subjects or, most commonly, a partially integrated programme. Ākonga learn with a dedicated kaimanaaki who works with the ākonga and their family/whānau to develop the most suitable programme of learning for them. Learning programmes reflect the levels of achievement and strands as outlined in Te Mātaiaho. Integrated units of work are organised around a key concept through which ākonga explore real-life problems and concepts, both concrete and abstract. Ākonga have opportunities to use creative, critical and metacognitive processes to make sense of information, experiences and ideas, which benefits Year 9 and 10 ākonga as they prepare for NCEA assessment. Online learning is a component of all courses.
