Te Kura is incredibly proud to celebrate the remarkable international achievement of ākonga Kingston Pu, who recently competed at the prestigious 3rd Vienna International Piano Competition.
Bringing together exceptional young pianists from around the globe, this highly professional event set an exceptionally high benchmark for all competitors. The journey began with a rigorous first round involving a video assessment and over 220 applications. Following a thorough evaluation by the judging panel, only 75 participants earned a place in the second round, with Kingston proudly selected as the sole representative for New Zealand.

Showing true resilience and a dedication to his musical craft, Kingston chose to step outside his comfort zone. Rather than competing in his own age bracket, he challenged himself in Category 3 alongside musicians aged 13–15. Competing against older, highly experienced pianists provided an invaluable opportunity for Kingston to grow, stretch his capabilities, and elevate his artistry.

Following the live performance round in front of the international judging panel, Kingston's dedication and exceptional musicianship were rewarded with the prestigious Silver Prize in Category 3.
