Introducing our Te Ara Hou programme
Learning your way, every day.
In Te Ara Hou, we work with you and your rangatahi to build on their foundational skills and knowledge across the New Zealand Curriculum and Te Ara Pounamu, our local curriculum, while further encouraging their exploration of the wider world. This can happen through a mix of online and offline activities, or by working independently and in groups.
Through working with others, ākonga learn about themselves and their communities. They develop empathy, resilience and a complex understanding of their world and what they would like to learn or experience in the future.
We encourage all ākonga and their whānau to connect with their hapori by regularly attending face-to-face or online Huinga Ako if they can.
Ākonga may decide to learn through cross-curricular projects based on their daily life or an area of interest. Ākonga can work with their whānau and kaimanaaki to decide on the theme, scope and learning outcomes of their project. Projects can be developed as part of a Personalised Learning Plan (PLP) where ākonga set learning and personal goals to support their success.
