Culture, sports and the arts
More than just study.
At Te Kura there are lots of exciting ways to learn and grow. Every ākonga is different, and we can support you to follow your personal goals and passions. We want every ākonga to feel welcome, valued and supported to do their best.
We encourage everyone to bring their language and culture into their learning. Our school community often celebrates Aotearoa New Zealand events, international language weeks and a range of awareness days at Huinga Ako.
Māori language and culture are an important part of all learning at Te Kura. You can learn through te reo Māori immersion, or learn more about te ao Māori – the Māori world.
Each Te Kura region offers different opportunities. You can join Pacific learning groups, or explore learning through the arts such as music, drama, dance and painting. You can join regional sports teams, try a new activity, or take part in academic competitions, cultural festivals and special projects.
Our ākonga and kaimahi represent Te Kura at Te Matatini, Polyfest, Maadi Regatta, NZQA Top Art exhibitions and more.
Ask your kaimanaaki about opportunities in your area.
NCEA
Build your future by working towards a nationally recognised qualification.
At Te Kura you can study NCEA Levels 1, 2 and 3. Your kaiako and kaimanaaki help you plan your learning and assessments, so you know what to do and when.
We have a dedicated team to help you navigate the administration side of NCEA. If you are not sure if you need to register, or which externally assessed standards to choose, please ask your kaimanaaki or subject kaiako in the first instance.

Studying towards NCEADual tuition
Learning with two schools means the best of both worlds.
If you're enrolled with another school, you may be able to study extra subjects with Te Kura. This can help when your kura or school can't offer the subjects you want to study, or if you need extra support to access your learning.
Dual tuition can either be funded by the government or fee-paying, depending on your circumstances and eligibility.

Summer School
Catch up to reach your goals.
Te Kura Summer School lets you earn extra NCEA credits over the summer break. This short-term programme can help you reach your learning goals and move on to further study, training, or employment. Both current and new ākonga are welcome to register each November.
