Working together

We are committed to your success.

Here at Te Kura, we keep you at the centre of your learning by offering a flexible, personalised approach to our programmes. In 100 years, we've learned a lot about how to best support our ākonga with their learning. Pick it up again and do it your way.

If you're aged 20 or over and want to gain NCEA, or learn something new – we're here to help. Learning is online, flexible and fits around your life. While you are responsible for engaging in your learning programme, you'll get support and feedback from your kaiako for each subject.

    Working with overseas ākonga

    Stay connected while you're away.

If you're living overseas, you can still learn with Te Kura. We offer personalised, flexible, online programmes that are based on the New Zealand Curriculum and can be accessed anywhere in the world. This arrangement is great for families travelling for sport, working overseas, or on their OE.

Overseas ākonga juggle busy lives, and with the right support they can achieve their learning goals at the same time.

You can sit NCEA examinations overseas for externally assessed achievement standards if you meet certain conditions:

More information is available on the NZQA website.

If you have any questions about our Tāwāhi | Overseas provision, please email our dedicated team: overseas@tekura.school.nz

    Working with supervisors and whānau

    You guide and we support.

Supervisors and whānau can help ākonga manage their learning at home. We support supervisors with information, guidance, and even a payment for supporting eligible full-time ākonga. You don't need to be a teacher – just keen to help.

Working with dual providers and schools

Building partnerships to support our ākonga.

Some ākonga are enrolled with Te Kura and their main school at the same time. We work with your kura to offer more learning options, fill timetable gaps, or help out during emergencies. Everyone is on the same page to help you succeed.

    Working with agencies

    Working together for our ākonga.

Te Kura works closely with government agencies like Te Tāhuhu o te Mātauranga | Ministry of Education, Oranga Tamariki, Ara Poutama | Ministry of Justice, NZQA and other agencies in the education sector. We also work with Mana Mokopuna | Children's Commissioner. Some agencies refer ākonga and whānau to us when learning at their local school isn't the right fit. Some agencies work with us on special initiatives to support engagement and achievement in education.

If you think Te Kura might be right for you, contact the regional office for your agency. They can help you work out if you meet the enrolment criteria and support you through the enrolment process.
