How to support your Pou Whakarite | Lead Coordinator
Dual Provider schools and organisations are to ensure that:
- their school coordinator is allocated sufficient time to carry out the role
- their school coordinator understands their role and responsibilities
- new coordinators are encouraged to contact their Te Kura Kairuruku Hononga on a regular basis
- all contact details for your ākonga, Pou Whakarite, additional coordinators, Tumuaki | Principal and Te Tautapa a te Tumuaki are kept up to date in Te Pou, our dual onboarding tool

Responsibilities of Dual Providers
A reminder for Dual Provider schools and organisations:
- Dual registration is not shared responsibility. All legislative accountabilities sit with the main school of enrolment.
- Te Kura provides adaptation or capability to your school's curriculum.
- Te Kura does not set the learning programme. Your school works with each ākonga to determine their learning programme. Te Kura kaiako are available to help with this.
- Ākonga set a schedule, with your support, to meet the learning goals outlined in the learning programme.
- Te Kura does have a requirement for ākonga to submit mahi each month to remain on the roll.
Te Tautapa a te Tumuaki | Principal's Nominee
Our Dual Provider Partnership Agreement (DPPA) outlines your school's responsibilities for entering external assessments on behalf of dual ākonga, and for reporting internal results to NZQA.
Please read our Principal's Nominee Handbook and refer to our list of achievement and unit standards to see the full range of standards available for each course.
Internal assessment
If you are required to enter indicative internally assessed entries, please note that many ākonga may not be assessed for all standards within a course, or they may be offered additional standards.
Results for dual ākonga are available through Te Pou, our dual onboarding tool.
These results must be reported to NZQA with the correct version number and using our Te Kura provider code 498.
External assessment
You will need to enter the appropriate externally assessed standards into your school's management system.
Your Pou Whakarite can help dual ākonga identify which external standards they wish to enter and encourage them to discuss the selection with their Te Kura subject kaiako.
All entries for external assessments must be submitted to NZQA with our Te Kura provider code 498.
